Attempted Robberies at 2 Delaware County Banks Monday

Banks in Marple and Haverford township were targeted by a robber Monday and police are asking for help identifying him.

MARPLE TOWNSHIP, PA — Police in Marple said a man tried to rob a bank Monday, just minutes after an attempted robbery occurred Haverford Township.

According to Marple police, at about 2:45 p.m. a man came into the Wells Fargo Bank on the 2700 block of West Chester Pike and gave a demand note to a teller.

Police described the man as a black male about 20 years old who was wearing a white bucket hat, a gray Phillies shirt, and blue cargo shorts.

Police said he may have been wearing a wig or had long black hair.

Haverford Police said a man matching the same description tried to rob the Wells Fargo Bank 1120 West Chester Pike in Haverford Township at about 2:30 p.m. on Monday.

Anyone with information regarding the incident is asked to call Marple Police Detectives at (610) 356-1504.
