Russell Elementary Students raise $7,272 for Mission for Malawi

Russell Elementary School in Broomall, PA has taken the initiative to increase awareness on issues that affect the community and this year has extended their outreach internationally.  Under the direction of School Guidance Counselor, Kimberly Polonsky the students at Russell Elementary created a partnership with Zowe Primary in Malawi, Africa.  The students have worked closely with Mrs. Temwa Wright from Pamoza International.  The goal has been to raise $6,000 to support and maintain Zowe Primary’s school breakfast program for one year.  Many children in Malawi will starve due to the lack of food availability.

On Wednesday, May 7ththe students at Russell Elementary participated in a Mission for Malawi Walk.  The Walk was a fun-filled day with students visiting different Malawi stations, tasting Malawian food, and winning prizes for a good cause—helping students at Zowe Primary School.

They surpassed their goal and raised $7,212 for The Zowe School.  $6,000 will fund the breakfast program for an additional year.  The additional $1,212 will be used to make 10 desks for the students to use at the school.
