The 10,000 Can Mother's Day Soup Challenge to raise awareness about hunger in our community

The Marple-Newtown Clergy Association presents: The 10,000 Can Mother's Day Soup Challenge to raise awareness about hunger in our community.

In the immediate Delaware County area, 100,000 people representing 20% of our total County population - suffer from food insecurity and seek food assistance.  The Delaware County food pantries that serve them cannot do it alone and our faith communities want to bring together our neighbors, friends and family members to help our own.
Bring CANS because we CAN make a difference in the fight against hunger in Delaware County.

Canned goods and donations (made out to the houses of Worship with soup written in the memo line) will be accepted up until Mother's Day (May 11th) at St. Albans (3625 Chapel Rd, Newtown Square) and Temple Sholom in Broomall (55 Church Lane in Broomall).

On Wednesday, April 30, 2014 @ 2:30PM, we will meet at  MOM's Organic Market, 1149 E. Lancaster Ave., Bryn Mawr, Pa. to raise awareness about hunger in our communities and purchase large amounts of canned food for the Delaware County Food Pantries.  Every can we collect will be matched can for can by a very generous anonymous donor.  Our hope is to raise community awareness and to increase the general excitement level about donating food to our neighbors who struggle so very, very hard.  Join us with your cans and monetary donations and help us fight this ever growing fight against hunger in our neighborhoods!

The Marple-Newtown Clergy Association is comprised of over 20 clergy members from local houses of worship.  The planning committee for this event includes:  The Rev. Hentzi Elek, of St. Albans Episcopal Church in Newtown Square, Rabbi Peter Rigler, Temple Sholom in Broomall, Pastor Bruce Davis, Messiah Lutheran Church, Newtown Square and Rev. Janet Moore, Marple Christian Church, Broomall.  All can donations will go to St. Marks Food Center in Broomall and the Delco Interfaith Food Assistance Network.
