πŸ“° News we're reading

β€’ Wawa Rolls Out Sushi At Limited Number Of Stores (patch.com) β€” Wawa is quietly testing a new line of cooked sushi rolls at select stores, with early sightings reported at the Media location as well as several nearby towns. Made locally and delivered daily under the Sushi Soko brand, the crunchy and spicy varieties are proving especially popular, giving Media-area customers a new grab-and-go option at their neighborhood Wawa.

β€’ Swarthmore bakery Pastry Pants has closed amid rising costs and waning business (inquirer.com) β€” A beloved Swarthmore bakery, Pastry Pants, which drew many Media residents for breads and international pastries, has closed after three years due to rising costs, staffing shortages, and weak weekday business. Owner Robert Smythe says the decision lets him pay staff and wind down responsibly before winter. The closure leaves a noticeable gap in the local food scene for Media, Swarthmore, and Wallingford neighbors.

β€’ Everett C. Dade *60 (princeton.edu) β€” A noted mathematician, Everett C. Dade passed away in Media this April at age 88 after a distinguished academic career at the University of Illinois. Though his life's work focused on abstract algebra and representation theory, his final years brought him to our community, where he is remembered by his wife Catherine and daughter Julia.
