UPDATE: Delco Walmart Shooting Suspect Turns Himself In, Police Say

Update: The suspect has turned himself in, police said Monday afternoon.

A preliminary hearing for Armani Tyrell Waite was scheduled for Monday afternoon. Patch will update the result when it becomes available.

Waite doesn't currently have a listed attorney who could comment on his behalf.

GLENOLDEN, PA — A man accused of opening fire at a Walmart in Delaware County and injuring an employee has been identified, and he remains at large, police said.

Armani Tyrell Waite, 21, of Clifton Heights, fired a gun during an altercation with another customer Friday night at Walmart in Glenolden, according to Darby Township Police. A store employee, who wasn't involved in the dispute, was injured.

On Sunday, police identified Waite as the suspect. He should be considered "armed and dangerous," authorities said.

"Do not approach him," police said. "Anyone who sees Waite or has information regarding his whereabouts should call 911 immediately."

Waite was charged with attempted murder, four counts of aggravated assault, 12 counts of recklessly endangering another person, and several weapons offenses.

No arrest has been announced or reported in public records as of this writing.

The shooting happened around 7 p.m. Friday at the Walmart on North MacDade Boulevard, police said.

Police told NBC10 that a customer — later identified as Waite — pulled out a gun and fired five to 10 shots.

A Walmart employee was struck in the calf and brought to a hospital, police told 6abc Action News. She's expected to recover.

Police wished the injured worker a "full and speedy recovery."

"We also want to extend our sincere appreciation to the Walmart associates who immediately stepped forward to assist," said Darby Township Police. "The professionalism and compassion displayed by the entire staff during a difficult situation did not go unnoticed."

The investigation remains active.
