Attempted Child Lurings Reported In Delaware County

Pennsylvania State Police said they were alerted to an attempted luring of an elementary school student in Middletown Township Monday.

MIDDLETOWN TOWNSHIP, PA – Pennsylvania State Police are looking into at least two reports of attempted child lurings in Delaware County that occurred recently.

State police told Patch Tuesday they received a report of an individual attempting to lure an elementary school student into a white van at about 11:31 a.m. Monday, May 7.

According to Rose Tree Media School District, a fifth grade students was waiting for his bus at Glen Riddle apartments in Middletown Township a man in a white vane approached him.

The man asked the child if he wanted to drive the van, but the child said not and the ma left eh area, the district said.

Police said they are also looking into a similar incident that occurred just days before the May 7 report.

On May 4, the district said a 15 year old girl was approached by a man who said he was an Amazon delivery driver while at her home in Chester Heights Borough.

The district said the man left aft4er the girls refused the packaged and it was alter confirmed there was no delivery expected.

"Please remind your children about the dangers of approaching or speaking with strangers and that if they see
something to say something to you and/or a school official," the district said in its statement. "Needless to say, we are cooperating with the State Police and we will keep you informed as to any and all developments as they occur."

Police said the investigation is ongoing and could not provide further information due to details of witness statements.
