DelCo Municipalities to Talk Traffic Calming
The 2013 Municipalities Conference and Trade Show is set for March 21. Keynote speaker Jim Ritzman, Deputy Director of Planning, PennDOT, will discuss Governor Tom Corbett's transportation plan.
Inclement weather, road work, traffic accidents, and other unexpected events can cause major traffic backups and detours through residential areas of Delaware County’s municipalities. Such events pose serious concerns for municipalities. The challenge that planning officials and engineers face is slowing down or
reducing motor vehicle traffic in order to improve safety for residents, pedestrians, and cyclists.
In order to prepare and strategize, Delaware County Transportation Management
Association will hold its 11th Annual Municipalities Conference and Trade Show on Thursday, March 21, 2013. The event will be held at Drexelbrook
Catering & Corporate Events Center. This year’s theme is “Congestion Mitigation and Traffic Calming,” and will feature Keynote Speaker James D. Ritzman, P.E., Deputy Secretary for Planning, PennDOT. He will discuss Governor Tom Corbett’s plan to fund Pennsylvania’s transportation infrastructure.
There will also be a special panel of industry experts, including representatives
from Delaware County Planning Department, The Boeing Company, and Delaware
Valley Regional Planning Commission (DVRPC). The panel will be moderated by DVRPC’s Executive Director Barry Seymour.
