Riddle Hospital Cancer Center has Fundraiser with Media Theatre's 'Mame'

In the classic musical "Mame", which plays at The Media Theatre this Spring through May 19, one of Jerry Herman's songs has the memorable lyric "Open a new window, Open a new door! Travel a new highway that's never been tried before." The song seems as if it were almost written to be the anthem for the Riddle Hospital Cancer Center, which holds its annual fundraiser at The Media Theatre on April 27.

Each year, for the past eight years, the Cancer Center has been traveling a new highway to The Media Theatre, where cancer survivors, friends and supporters gather for a pre-show reception and a classic Broadway musical. "Mame" speaks to the bright side of life which is a philosophy that the survivors travel with every day. 

The Center is a promise fulfilled by Riddle Hospital with a commitment to create a center of excellence dedicated to the treatment of cancer. It offers advanced treatment and a wide variety of education, prevention, and early detection programs. The annual fundraiser assists in fulfilling that promise with a development gain of between $2500 and $3500 annually for the Cancer Center.

Marianne Dotts, the Chairperson for the Center's Advisory Committee, looks forward to the event each year. "We have a wonderful time, a great reception, and see a fantastic show," she said. "We are able to remember those who are near and dear to us, and we are, as survivors, certainly always ready to "Open A New Window"! Please come out and support us."
