The victim was able to fight free of Toy after suffering multiple stab wounds to his face, cheek, and hand, the DA said. He fled out the front door.
Toy came out after him with the knife in hand and encountered police. Police told him to drop the knife but he refused, and instead continued to advance toward them, according to the DA. Police then opened fire on Toy, hitting him in the hand.
