Colonial Scout and his role in the American Revolution

On Wednesday, August 1, the Colonial Pennsylvania Plantation will offer another of its “Wednesday Evening at the Farm” programs. The gate opens at 6 PM, and visitors can bring their picnic dinner, blankets and chairs to enjoy a leisurely picnic before the evening’s offerings get underway. Food and drink will also be available for purchase.

At 7 PM local historian and author, Andy Miller, will present a program on the “Colonial Scout and his role in the American Revolution.” Miller, a professor at Neumann University, has been active in bringing the world of the colonial soldier to life at historic reenactments. His presentation is enhanced through the use of historically appropriate clothing and weapons. The program will take place in the Plantation’s colonial era wagon barn.

During the evening the Plantation farmhouse and the kitchen garden will be available for tours. Demonstrations taking place include textile making and long rifle firing. Of course, the Plantation’s farm animals will be around for viewing.

The Plantation is located in Ridley Creek State Park and is easily reached via Routes 3, 352, 252 or Providence Road.
