Freight Train Derails In Delco Wednesday Night​

A Norfolk Southern freight train derailed late Wednesday in the Ridley Park area, spilling it contents and delaying SEPTA and Amtrak lines.

RIDLEY PARK, PA – A Norfolk Southern freight train derailed late Wednesday night in Delaware County, spilling its contents and delaying SEPTA and Amtrak trains.

The freight train carrying stones derailed at about 11:30 p.m. Wednesday under the Interstate 95 overpass in Ridley Park, according to Action News.

No one was injured and crews worked overnight to clean up the stones and upright the overturned freight car, CBS Philadelphia reports.

SEPTA and Amtrak trains were delayed by the derailment.

As of Thursday morning SEPTA's Wilmington/Newark line is still suspended. Amtrak said at about 7:45 a.m. Thursday that service had resumed.
