Get Out: Dance, Give Blood, Stroll the Arts

Patch offers some ideas for the upcoming weekend for you and the family.

The weekend before Valentine's Day is always filled with love. Whether your celebrating with your significant other, your family or celebrating the single life, there's something for everyone this weekend. Dance with your daughter at the Daddy Daughter Dance at the Willows, learn to Salsa at Salsa in the Burbs, or listen to the melodies at a Delaware County Symphony concert.

 

1. Media Community Blood Drive

2. Second Saturday Arts Stroll

When/Where: Saturday, Feb. 11 at 6 p.m. at , 101 W State St in Media

Why Go: Support the local arts and businesses. Listen to Sonoma Sound and make a personal Valentine with a collage artist and of course check out featured artist Lois Sellers' photographs. 

Pricing: Free

 

3. Sweetheart Salsa Dance

When/Where: Saturday, Feb. 11 at 8 p.m. at , 1245 N Providence Rd in Media

Why Go: Go as a couple or go single and maybe you'll meeting someone there. No partner is needed to dance. A one-hour lesson is followed by open Latin dancing until midnight. BYOB and wear pink, red or white. No dance experience needed.

Pricing: $12 in advance, $15 at the door

 

4. Delaware County Symphony Music Series

Where/When: Sunday, Feb. 12 at 3 p.m. in the Meagher Theatre of the Thomas A. Bruder, Jr. Life Center at Neumann University in Aston

Why Go: This third chamber concert series will feature Roberta Winemiller alto saxophone performing the Concerto in E-flat Major for Saxophone by Alexander Glazounov.

Pricing: Tickets are $10, $8 for seniors/students and free for children 12 and under with paying adult admission.

 

5. Make your Own Food Sculpture

Where/When: Friday, Feb. 10 at 1:30 p.m. at , 201 Bishop Hollow Rd. in Newtown Square

Why Go: Come play with your food and make a food sculpture. Supplies are provided. For children Kindergarten age and older.

6. Daddy/Daughter Valentine Dance at Willows

Where/When: Friday, Feb. 10 at 6:30 p.m., , 490 Darby Paoli Rd in Radnor

Why Go: The first daddy-daughter dance at the Willows Mansion will feature dancing, crafts and photo opportunities. Recommended for girls, ages 3 to 14. Space is limited, register early.

Pricing: Resident $40/Non-Resident $70 per couple, $15 per additional child/parent
