“This event is geared toward the entire family because the children have fun and the parents walk away with a lot of valuable information on programs and services offered to them in Pennsylvania,” Hackett said. “There are so many excellent resources available to us, but we’re not always aware of how to access them. This event will give our families the opportunity to see how those resources can be of value to each one of us.”

The expo is offered as a community service to both educate and entertain. Exhibitors include local and state agencies, businesses, clubs, and a variety of organizations valuable to families.

Independence Blue Cross and the Philadelphia Union will be on hand to promote their “Healthy Futures Initiative” dedicated to fighting childhood obesity and building healthy communities. Kids will have the opportunity to play in a giant inflatable soccer field and meet a team member from the Philadelphia Union, who will be at the Expo from noon to1 p.m.

“We live in an age of electronic entertainment, where physical activity and neighborhood safety have decreased considerably for our region’s children,” Hackett said. “As both a state representative and community member, I care about the futures of our students, so having the presence of the IBC Foundation and its partners to ensure those futures are brighter, happier, and healthier is a great honor.”

More than 60 exhibitors will take part in this year’s expo. A full list of exhibitors and event details are available online at RepHackett.com.

Admission and parking are free for the Family Expo. For more information contact Hackett’s Folsom district office at 610-461-5543.
