HOLIDAY OFFERINGS AT THE MEDIA THEATRE

When the holidays arrive our thoughts turn to friends and family. We gather together, we break bread together, and we come together with gifts, surprises, and much needed smiles and laughter.

The Media Theatre has plenty of wonderful offerings to delight those you love during this holiday season.

"Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat" continues its run through January 5, featuring a bold performance by Emmy nominee Kyle Lowder who achieved fame as a leading man on two popular daytime television shows: "Days of Our Lives" and "The Bold and the Beautiful". A classically trained singer, Lowder showcases his vocals in Andrew Lloyd Webber's iconic musical.

"Joseph" is a great family outing during this time of year, with messages about forgiveness with a rock and roll spin. Based on the story of Joseph and his brothers from the Old Testament, it's a terrific musical for all faiths and all ages. There's a special Black Friday discount on the home page of mediatheatre.org right now! The musical has 7 performances per week to choose from to suit your family's shopping schedule.

Another treat lies in store with actor Scott Langdon's one-man rendition of Charles Dickens' "A Christmas Carol". Langdon received rave reviews in The Media Theatre production of "Spamalot" recently and brings his acting chops to every role in Dickens moving classic as he communicates to audiences what is undoubtedly the perfect message for the holiday season. It's on weekends, with morning performances each Saturday and Sunday night shows through Dec. 22.

Acting classes don't start up until the week of January 11, but for the person you know who has a passion for performing....well, training is essential! It's a great gift which says "We appreciate what you can do and we know you want to pursue this craft." There are two classes for children (Saturdays at 9am for Beginners and Tuesdays at 4:30pm for the more experienced), as well as a Teen Class and an Adult Class.

A new Improv Class starts up Tuesdays at 5:30pm for Teens and Adults that will be instructed by Second City Training Center Alum Robert Huntington. With his background, the class is sure to be fun and fast-paced!

There's also The New School, created by Artistic Director Jesse Cline three years ago. It's a conservatory-style approach to music theatre education with two nights for two different age groups. Scott Anthony, the theatre's new music director, will begin working with Cline during The New School starting mid-January.

So there's much to choose from at Delaware County's award winning professional music theatre! (Broadway World's "Best Theatre Company of Philadelphia-2012"; Daily Times "Best Theatre" every year since 2000)
