I-95 Crash In Delco Was Hit-And-Run, 1 Person Dead: Police

Pennsylvania State Police said a driver sped off after hitting another vehicle, with caused three other crashes leading to a woman's death.

CHESTER, PA — A hit-and-run driver caused a chain reaction of crashes on Interstate 95 south in Delaware County Thursday, leading to a woman's death, authorities said.

According to Pennsylvania State Police, the initial crash occurred at about 5:23 a.m. at mile marker 3.6 on Interstate 95 south in Chester.

Police said a dark sedan vehicle struck another vehicle on its passenger side and drove off.

That crash led to three other crashes, police said.

One of those crashes led to a woman's death, according to state police. The victim has not been identified.

The vehicle that caused the incident should have passenger side damage, police said.

Anyone who has information on the crash or the vehicle is urged to contact Trooper Mario Solis at 484-840-1000.

All southbound lanes in the area were closed until about 10 a.m.

Action News reports at least five vehicles were involved in the crash.
