Iron Hill In Media Wins Medals At Beer Competition

Iron Hill in Media brought home medals for two of its brews at the Great American Beer Festival competition in Denver recently.

MEDIA, PA – Iron Hill Brewery and Restaurant in Media walked away from the Great American Beer Festival's brewing competition with some hardware recently, and now we're itching to try the award-winning brews.

According to the Great American Beer Festival, breweries enter their beers to be blindly judged by the festival’s Professional Judge Panel. Festival attendees can also sip the beer entered in the competition during the tasting sessions.

Iron Hill's Solzhenitsyn won silver in the competition's "aged beer" category while its Russian Imperial Stout won silver in the "imperial stout" category.

Breweries in Aston, Philadelphia, Pottstown, Croydon, and Royersford also brought home medals. In total, PA breweries brought home 16 medals.

Below are the criteria for gold, silver, and bronze medals:

  • Gold - A world-class beer that accurately exemplifies the specified style, displaying the proper balance of taste, aroma and appearance.
  • Silver –An excellent beer that may vary slightly from style parameters while maintaining close adherence to the style and displaying excellent taste,aroma and appearance.
  • Bronze – A fine example of the style that may vary slightly from style parameters and/or have minor deviations in taste, aroma or appearance.
