Longtime Delco Sergeant, Head Of Child Abuse Unit Retires

MEDIA, PA – After more than five decades of dedicated service, Delaware County District Attorney’s Office Criminal Investigation Division (CID) Sergeant Jack Kelly of Aston is retiring from the force.

Kelly's retirement, effected Aug. 31, marks the end of his 56-year law enforcement career.

Kelly began his career at 23 years old when he joined the Military Police Corps, the law enforcement branch of the United States Army. As a Military Police Officer (MP), he served his country for three years, including serving a tour in Korea.

Then in 1964, he was sworn in as a police officer for the Radnor Township Police Department where he served for 27 years.

Kelly joined the Delaware County District Attorney’s Office CID in 1991. During his 26 years with the CID, he rose through the ranks, ultimately serving as the head of the CID Child Abuse Unit where he worked tirelessly to ensure the safety and protection of children in Delaware County.

"On behalf of the District Attorney’s Office, we wish Sergeant Kelly all the best in his well-deserved retirement after 56 years of dedicated service to the residents of Delaware County," said District Attorney Katayoun M. Copeland. "As one of hardest working, upstanding and committed investigators I know, Sergeant Kelly will be greatly missed, and there is no question that his years of dedicated service have made Delaware County a safer place to live, work and raise a family."
