Media CVS Armed Robber Sentenced To Prison: DA
Kwesi Hudson, of Delaware, held two CVS workers at gunpoint in an armed robbery attempt, which led to a brief standoff with police.

MEDIA, PA – The man who caused a standoff at a Media CVS while holding employees at gunpoint in a May 2017 armed robbery has been sentenced to prison, according to Delaware County authorities.
Delaware County District Attorney Katayoun M. Copeland Wednesday announced that Kwesi Hudson, 47, of Wilmington, Delaware, was sentenced to a minimum of 20 years and 9 months to a maximum of 41 years and 6 months in state prison for the May 24 robbery of the CVS on Baltimore Pike in Media, during which he held two employees at gun point and stole $5,000 from the safe.
Hudson was found guilty by a jury during a trial May 30, 2018, and was convicted of two counts of robbery and two counts of false imprisonment. The jury took less than an hour to convict him of all charges, the DA's office said.

Delaware County Assistant District Attorney Michael J. Mattson prosecuted the case on behalf of the Commonwealth.
On May 24, 2017, Hudson entered the CVS store and pharmacy, dressed in all black, wearing a black ski mask and brandishing what appeared to be a semi-automatic handgun, according to the DA's office.

During the commission of a robbery, he proceeded to point the gun at an 18-year-old female clerk and ordered her to take him to the safe, the DA's office said.
Hudson pointed the gun at a 23-year-old female manager when he got to the safe and ordered her to put the money from the safe in a bag, the DA's office said. Hudson then took the bag, which contained $5,000, and ordered both employees to the rear of the store at gunpoint where he forced them into a bathroom, according to the DA's office.
During the robbery, the manager was speaking with her boyfriend on the phone who, realizing a robbery was occurring, immediately called police, the DA's office said.
Hudson was arrested at the scene without incident, after Media Borough Police responded nearly instantly to a call of an armed robbery in progress, according to the DA's office.
"Our residents and business owners deserve to feel secure in their places of business, as well as in their homes," Copeland said. "Individuals who violate the sanctity of that basic right will be held accountable for their actions. In this case, the defendant, using a gun, violently and recklessly violated the personal security of the two victims. Today, Delaware County residents are now safer, as this violent criminal will be in custody for decades. We commend the Media Borough Police Department and the Central Delaware County Tactical Response Team for their swift response and apprehension of the defendant without incident, the Delaware County Criminal Investigation Division (CID) who assisted with the investigation, and Assistant District Attorney Michael J. Mattson who brought justice to this case."
