Media Resident Finds Burglar In Home Saturday: Police

The suspect, a 31-year-old Chester man, is facing burglary, trespassing, theft, and related charges in connection with the Aug. 4 incident.

MEDIA, PA – A Chester man is facing burglary, theft, and related charged in connection with a home break-in at a Media home over the weekend, according to Media Borough Police.

Robert Cruz Chapell, 31, of Chester, was charged with burglary, theft by unlawful taking, receiving stolen property, criminal trespassing, and resisting arrest, court records show.

Police said a homeowner living on the 100 block of North Lemon Street found a burglar, allegedly Chapell, in the second floor of his home at about 6:30 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 4.

The suspect fled after he was confronted, police said.

After about an hour of searching with assistance from area law enforcement agencies, police located Chapell, according to police.

Chapell was unable to post 10 percent of $75,000 bail at his Aug. 5 preliminary arraignment, court records show.

He is slated to appear for a preliminary hearing on Aug. 20, according to court documents.

Police remind residents to lock their homes.
