The State Street Miracles, Media Theatre's performance troupe of adults with intellectual disabilities, performed Thursday night July 25 at Delco's Summer Concert Series at Rose Tree Park.
The Miracles opened for headliner Charlie Gracie, who could not have been more complimentary and appreciative.
With songs such as "Hound Dog", "Don't Stop Believin'", "Lean On Me" and "God Bless America" The Miracles brought the crowd of approximately 800 to a standing ovation. County Councilman Dave White introduced The Miracles describing them as 'inspiring' and noting that they recently performed in our nation's capitol receiving a Congressional Proclamation.
The State Street Miracles will have their next performance on Wednesday night August 14 when they appear in Roger Ricker's 2013 concert "Star Power" at 7:30pm. The group was created six years ago by Patricia Cofiell, whose son Jake is a member of the troupe, and The Media Theatre's Artistic Director Jesse Cline. Their mission is to provide performance opportunities for artists with intellectual disabilities who maintain their position as ambassadors for the professional music theatre company.
