Pedestrian Struck, Killed By Truck On I-476 In Delaware County

Dash cam footage shows the woman parking her car on the shoulder and getting out into traffic.

DELAWARE COUNTY, PA — A pedestrian was struck and killed by a tractor trailer on I-476 in Delaware County late Monday in what state police believe to be an apparent suicide.

The incident occurred at around 9 p.m. near mile marker 3.8, in Nether Providence Township.

The victim, identified only as a woman, parked her vehicle on the right shoulder of the highway and then got out and walked straight in front of the oncoming truck, police said.

Dash cash video from the truck confirmed what the driver described to state troopers.

The woman was immediately killed after being struck, investigators said.

Police said that the driver cooperated fully with the investigation and showed no signs of being impaired.
