Penncrest Plays in Lacrosse Benefit

The Lions' Girl's Lacrosse team faces off to raise money for spinal cord injuries.

Girls Lacrosse Teams were among the 54 schools that competed in the 11th annual Katie Samson Lacrosse Festival held from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday at Radnor High School. There were a total of 27 games on seven different fields. Besides the lacrosse action there were amusements for children and lots of vendors  selling food and all types of lacrosse gear. Teams from the Magee Rehabilitation Center played wheelchair rugby and basketball demonstrating that a disability can be overcome.

The first of the 11 annual events was held to raise funds to pay the medial costs of Katie Samson, a Radnor High School lacrosse player who incurred a spinal injury in an accident 12 years ago. Since its beginning the Festival has raised more than $1,000,000 for spinal injury research. Katie is as assistant coach of the Radnor High School Girls Lacrosse team. There is a photo of her in the gallery coaching from her wheelchair.

In the girls' game Agnes Irwin defeated Penncrest 16 to 9. Take a look at the gallery of photos, see some game action and get a glimpse of what went on.
