Ridley Square Officially Breaks Ground

(RIDLEY, PA – September 17, 2013) – MGM Ridley Parking, L.P. officially broke ground on Ridley Square, a new development in Ridley Park, Delaware County, PA. As the abandoned site of a former wastewater treatment facility, this site has been targeted by Ridley Township for economic and commercial development for more than two decades. Phase I of the project will exceed $20 million and generate approximately 239 construction jobs.

Ridley Square will house five mixed-use lots along Route 291 between Sellers Avenue and Stewart Avenue in Ridley Park, PA. Tenants will include a 36,000 square foot, 78-room Microtel Inn & Suites by Wyndham, Royal Farms gas station and convenience store, Wendy’s restaurant as well as other development opportunities. Remington Group, Inc., a Project Management company based in Wayne, PA, is serving as MGM’s owner’s representative. Phase I site work is scheduled to be completed by May 1, 2014.

The Ridley Square development is a significant community revitalization project. At full build-out, it will generate approximately $8.3 million in new economic activity each year, 156 direct, full-time jobs in the commercial and lodging sectors and 77 indirect jobs in the surrounding areas. Together, these new jobs represent over $7.2 million in new, annual employee compensation in the region. As such, the project received a $2.5 Redevelopment Assistance Capital Program (RACP) grant and a $1.25 million Infrastructure Development Program (IDP) grant that will help fund the development.

“This is a sign that the economy is rebounding,” says The Honorable Joe Hackett, PA 161st Legislative District. “We’re backing and looking forward to Phases 1, 2 and any other subsequent phases involved with Ridley Square.”
