Supposed Human Remains Found At Park In Delco Belonged To A Deer: Police
The remains were discovered by hikers, and authorities initially identified them as human.
UPPER PROVIDENCE TOWNSHIP, PA — The remains discovered recently at a state park in Delaware County belonged to an animal, not a human, authorities said after further investigation.
Two hikers found what appeared to be human remains Friday afternoon at Ridley Creek State Park in Upper Providence Township, according to State Police.
The Delaware County Medical Examiner's Office initially determined they were human remains. But after further investigation, authorities confirmed they belonged to a deer, State Police said.

The medical examiner's office concluded the remains weren't human after conducting a more-extensive examination. The office notified State and Upper Providence Township Police on Sunday.
At the time, both law-enforcement agencies were searching the area where the remains were found.

Middle Creek Search & Rescue volunteers completed the search and found no other remains, State Police said.
The investigation has closed, and all traffic detours have been lifted.
