• Man pleads guilty in 2021 Monroeville drug bust (triblive.com) — A major 2021 drug bust in Monroeville has now led to a federal guilty plea from a North Braddock man caught with nearly 1,000 baggies of fentanyl and heroin. Investigators from the state Attorney General’s Office and Monroeville police stopped his attempted escape near Mosside Boulevard, recovering drugs, a stolen handgun, and cash; sentencing is set for Sept. 14. 
• Jim Toman, "one of one" college baseball coach from Pennsylvania, dies of brain cancer (cbsnews.com) — Monroeville is mourning native son and Gateway High School graduate Jim Toman, a respected college baseball coach who has died at 64 after battling brain cancer. Toman, remembered for leading Liberty University’s successful baseball era, will be laid to rest at Good Shepherd Cemetery in Monroeville, with his family requesting memorial donations to the National Brain Tumor Society.
