Customers can sign up for text-message alerts.

For customers in Moon, getting information from Duquesne Light just got easier.
All they have to do is text DUQLIGHT to 94253 to sign up for the Duquesne Light Mobile Network. Then they will receiveΒ text messages about storm updates as well as energy-saving and money-saving tips.Β
βThis free service will be especially useful during major storms, as many times, a customerβs cell phone is the only device not dependent on a constant source of power," said Joseph Vallarian, Duquesne Lightβs manager of customer and media relations. Β

"Weβll be able to provide Duquesne Light Mobile Network members the same restoration updates we make available via the media, our interactive voice response system, and on our website.β
Duquesne Lightβs Mobile Network Β is administered by Pittsburgh-based Songwhale.

βText messaging is one of the most commonly used communication vehicles today, so this is the next logical step in communicating with our customers,β saidΒ Vallarian.Β βThe network will enable us to help link customers to a number of beneficial options, from major CFL bulb discounts and free refrigerator recycling to an extensive list of rebates and free online energy audits.βΒ
Β Duquesne Light also recently added a live chat feature on its website for customers who need to start, stop or transfer their service, according to today's announcement.Β
