• What's Up, NEPA? — Week of Oct. 1, 2026 (timesleader.com) — Mountain Top residents have a busy October ahead, with a public rosary rally at St. Jude Church on Oct. 10, a Historical Society Trivia Night fundraiser Oct. 11, and a Garden Club talk on soil rejuvenation Oct. 13. The Social Club also meets twice this month and is organizing several bus trips, while nearby communities host bingos, rummage sales, runs, and library events across NEPA.
   

• St. Jude School students learn 'pirate science' of eye patches (timesleader.com) — Sixth graders at Saint Jude School in Mountain Top recently turned pirate lore into a hands-on science lesson, testing whether eye patches really help people see better in the dark. Using research and experiments in the school lab, students explored how keeping one eye adapted to darkness could have helped pirates move quickly between bright decks and dim ship interiors.
   

• Library News — Week of Oct. 1, 2026 (timesleader.com) — Families in Mountain Top can sign up now for a Halloween-themed faux stained glass art class for third- to fifth-graders at Marian Sutherland Kirby Library on Oct. 28, using glue and paint to create colorful window-style designs. The broader roundup also highlights upcoming library programs in Wilkes-Barre, Kingston, West Pittston, and Hazleton, from journaling and language workshops to game nights and math tutoring.
