• Amish wagon train begins, highlighting roots of Stoltzfus families in colonial Pennsylvania (lancasteronline.com) — An Amish wagon train is traveling from Leacock Township to Wyomissing and will pass through New Holland, retracing historic routes tied to the Stoltzfus family’s colonial-era roots. Local residents can see horses, wagons, and riders along smaller byways as they head to a public pavilion dedication at the Nicholas Stoltzfus Homestead, celebrating Amish heritage connecting Lancaster and Berks counties.
   

• BettyAnn Stewart (maurycountysource.com) — New Holland–born BettyAnn Stewart, remembered for her strong faith and love of walking, gardening, and hospitality, has died at age 90. She grew up in Lancaster County, attended Mt. Zion Church in Denver, and once walked 200 miles on the Akron Trail. Friends and family can attend her viewing and funeral Monday, Oct. 5, in Ephrata.
