• Proposed New Kensington STEM Academy to proceed with next steps (triblive.com) — New Kensington’s zoning board has cleared the way for SparX Academy, a free after-school STEM program planned for 1250 Fifth Ave., to move forward with renovations and opening. Run by the R&D Impact Foundation, the academy will serve New Kensington and Arnold students with classrooms, a makerspace, and meals, aiming to open after the first renovation phase next spring. 
• Pressure at the pump builds as gas prices reach 4-year high (triblive.com) — New Kensington DoorDash driver Jill Mueller says daily fill-ups at Shamey’s near the Tarentum Bridge are now taking up to a third of her pay as gas prices surge. She’s among several Western Pennsylvania drivers adjusting commutes, business costs, and even travel plans as regional prices climb above $4.30 per gallon, with many blaming war-related tensions and oil company profits.
