After Forty Years in Construction, Paul Raywood Turns Over Reins

Ron Grover and Gabrielle Kanter to carry on legacy of historic work

After forty years in the construction business, Paul Raywood has decided to take a back seat and is turning over Raywood General Contracting to his trusted long time lead carpenter, Ron Grover and his wife, Gabrielle Kanter. Under Raywood’s new ownership, Ron will continue Raywood’s legacy of finely crafted preservation and homebuilding, architectural restoration, barn conversions, light commercial construction, with a specialization in older homes and historical renovation. Paul Raywood will stay on as a consultant and the original Raywood team of carpenters, plumbers, electricians, masons and other skilled tradesmen will continue on with the company.

Paul Raywood founded his construction company in 1977 after working for the State of New Jersey Historic Sites, where he repaired and maintained historic sites, such as Morven, Drumthwacket, the Princeton Battlefield, and Rockingham. Paul has served on the New Hope Borough Uniform Construction Code Board of Appeals since 2004, and has won numerous awards for his work, including the Best of Bucks County Award for Excellence in Architecture and Design, The Best of the Best Award for Architecture and Design, and many others.

Ron joined Paul’s team over two decades ago as a laborer. Through the years, Ron rose to the position of carpenter and site manager, expanding his capabilities under Paul’s tutelage. During Ron’s career he also had the opportunity to hone his cabinetry and fine building skills while working with Richard Finch of Wood Artisans, as well as developing design and 3D CAD software skills.

“I am pleased to leave my legacy in such capable hands,” says Paul. “Ron’s vision, project management skills, and craftsmanship will serve the community’s construction needs well.”

“Since 1997, Paul has been my mentor, supporter and supervisor,” says Ron. “He has set high standards when it comes to architectural restorations, renovations and fine home building, and I will continue to uphold his reputation for personalized service and quality craftsmanship, especially with older, historic structures.”

Ron is joined by his wife, Gabrielle, in the family business. She handles office management, job quotation and day-to-day operations for Raywood General Contracting.

“We are especially grateful to Paul for sharing his knowledge, wisdom and experience with us,” says Gabrielle. “He will always be a part of our family business.”
