'No Indications' Alleged Child Rapist Still In Solebury: Police

After another search Monday, Solebury police declared "there are no indications that Hamilton is still in the immediate area."

BUCKS COUNTY, PA — Authorities from multiple law enforcement agencies again combed Solebury Township on Monday for an alleged child rapist who has been on the run since last week. However, after no trace of David Allen Hamilton Jr., police around 3:30 p.m. declared "there are no indications that Hamilton is still in the immediate area."

Hamilton, 47, is wanted by Lower Southampton Police on 12 child sex assault charges, including child rape.

Officers from Solebury, New Hope, Lower Southampton and SEPTA Police Departments searched on foot in the woods starting early Monday morning. However, Hamilton was not located, and authorities do not know where he is.

"Officers have searched the entire heavily wooded area where Hamilton was last seen and numerous locations throughout the township. This includes countless outbuildings, vacant properties and developments," police in Solebury said.

Even though police don't have evidence to believe Hamilton is still in Solebury, officers "will continue to monitor the area." Residents are asked to remain vigilant and keep an eye out for Hamilton.

A warrant for Hamilton's arrest was issued on Wednesday. Just after midnight on Friday, he was spotted crossing the Calhoun Street Bridge from Morrisville into Trenton, NJ. At that point, he was on a bike.

Police across the county were on high alert Friday, and special attention was placed on areas near the Delaware River and canal towpath on both the Pennsylvania and New Jersey sides of the river.

Later that day, he was seen in the area of Stoney Hill Road in Solebury. A manhunt began, and area residents were asked to shelter in place. Residents were on edge as police continued to search for him throughout the night and into Saturday morning.

Local police departments in Pennsylvania and New Jersey have been inundated with requests about the status of Hamilton. "What we know now is that after an extensive search for David Hamilton, he remains at large. We do not have any further information to report," Yardley Borough Police told residents via Facebook on Monday morning.

Police in Upper Makefield, which borders Solebury Township, were fielding requests as well.

"He has not been apprehended as of this morning and the investigation into his whereabouts is ongoing. Area police departments are actively on the look out for him," Upper Makefield Police said via Facebook.

Authorities in New Jersey are on high alert, too. Hunterdon County Prosecutor Anthony P. Kearns addressed the situation over the weekend, asking residents to be vigilant.

The Hunterdon County Prosecutor’s Office K9 team responded over the weekend and assisted in trying to locate Hamilton. "Special attention to residents in Western Hunterdon due to the interaction with Hamilton in New Hope. Please remain vigilant and if located call 911 immediately," Kearns said.
