The scammer identified himself as Mark Jamison, Badge No. 56281, and said that fake bank accounts were opened in California using the resident's personal information. The resident responded by advising the scammer that he would handle the matter in person at the police station.

"Scammers use spoofing technology to make it look like you are receiving a call from a real number," police warn. "Don’t give your personal or financial information in response to a request that you didn’t expect. Honest organizations won’t call, email, or text to ask for your personal information, like your Social Security, bank account, or credit card numbers."
