Police are warning residents not to give out their personal information even if the call appears to be coming from the police department.

NEW HOPE, PA — The New Hope Borough Police Department is warning residents about a scam making the rounds spoofing the police department's phone number.
Police on Thursday said a resident received a scam call using ID spoofing technology to make it appear the call was coming from the New Hope Borough Police Department
The scammer identified himself as Mark Jamison, Badge No. 56281, and said that fake bank accounts were opened in California using the resident's personal information. The resident responded by advising the scammer that he would handle the matter in person at the police station.
