With Car Break-Ins, Thefts On The Rise, Solebury Police Offering Tips
Automatic lights can provide thieves with a visible sign that a vehicle is unlocked.
SOLEBURY TOWNSHIP, PA — With an increase i being reported from parked vehicles in the area, Solebury Township Police are offering the following recommendations:
- Don't leave valuables such as wallets, purses, laptops, or electronics lying in any of the seats of a parked vehicle.
- Always lock your car and make sure to remove the key fob from the ignition, no matter where you are.
- Get in touch with the local police immediately to report any suspicious vehicles, individuals, or groups you might notice in the area or neighborhood. Call 911 or our non-emergency 24/7 police dispatch at 215-328-8511.
Don't let mirrors tip off car thieves
- The fact that mirrors on recently released luxury models fold automatically once the vehicle is locked and the engine is turned tips thieves off on whether a car is locked or unlocked.
- Parked luxury vehicles that have their side mirrors sticking out are being targeted.
- Thieves will take advantage of this vulnerability and try to steal the car using various engine start tricks or the key if it has been left behind in the ignition. Or they may just steal any valuables left inside.
