Checks Stolen From USPS Mailboxes, Lambertville Police Say

Police in Lambertville are investigating after two reports of stolen checks from curbside United States Postal Service mailboxes.

Police encourage residents to use the Post Office for their outgoing mail, and not use the curbside mailboxes "until they are replaced with newer, updated versions." Anyone with information is asked to contact Lambertville Police at 609-397-3132.

LAMBERTVILLE, NJ — Police in Lambertville are investigating after two reports of stolen checks from curbside United States Postal Service mailboxes.

"All of the stolen mail contained checks that had erased the original handwritten content and then forged for a greater amount," police said. "The checks were then deposited into an account other than the authorized recipient."

Police encourage residents to use the Post Office for their outgoing mail, and not use the curbside mailboxes "until they are replaced with newer, updated versions."
