Auto Thefts On The Increase: Solebury Police Offer Tips

With an increase in car thefts and thefts from autos, the Solebury Police Department is encouraging vehicle owners to follow these tips:

SOLEBURY TOWNSHIP, Pa. — With a recent increase in stolen vehicles and thefts from parked
vehicles, the Solebury Township Police Department is urging residents to follow these tips to avoid becoming a victim:

  • Never leave any valuables such as wallets, purses, laptops, or electronics lying in any of the seats of a parked vehicle.
  • Always lock your car and make sure to remove the key fob from the ignition, no matter where you are.
  • Immediately get in touch with the local police to report any suspicious vehicles, individuals, or groups you might notice in the area or neighborhood. Call 911 or the township's non-emergency 24/7 police dispatch at 215-328-8511

Don't Let Mirrors Tip Off Car Thieves

  • When side view mirrors are sticking out, police said it's a sure sign to thieves that the vehicle is unlocked. Mirrors on recently released luxury models fold automatically once the vehicle is locked and the engine is turned off.
  • Thieves will either take advantage of this vulnerability and try to steal the car using various engine start tricks or by using the key left in the ignition or they may steal the valuable items that have been left unattended inside the vehicle.
