Questions
Why are you running?
I am running for election to be a member of the Solebury Township Board of Supervisors because I am dedicated to maintaining the strong fiscal position created by our current Board of Supervisors, while working to keep Solebury Township a safe and healthy place for my family, and for all residents. As a six-year member of the Solebury Township Environmental Advisory Council (EAC), I have directly contributed to the creation of educational initiatives and policy directives that promote the health of the environment, and protect the natural beauty and resources of Solebury Township. The work of the Solebury Township EAC has been on the leading edge of the newest policy considerations in the areas of sustainability and environmental protection, and I am proud that my work, and the work of my colleagues, has served as a model for other EACs in our region. As an attorney, I am well-positioned to evaluate a range of legal issues and challenges as they arise, so that I, along with the Board of Supervisors, can effectively advocate on behalf of our residents, to streamline procedures and identify common sense solutions.
What are your top priorities and how do you plan to administer them?
My top priority as Supervisor will be to continue to apply my skill set in a broader capacity, to serve the needs of Solebury Township in the areas of budget management and fiscal responsibility, public safety, roadway maintenance, thoughtful open space planning, and defending challenges to the environment. The Solebury Township Comprehensive Plan is due for renewal in 2024. This Plan sets forth the vision for the Township in all of the above-mentioned areas, and more, for the next decade. As a dedicated member of my community who is raising three school-aged children here, I am very committed to being an advocate for the needs of families, so that everyone has a voice in creating a community that best serves all of us, not only in the near future, but also for generations to come.
What will you bring to the office?
My educational and professional backgrounds as a Biochemist and Patent Attorney have positioned me to be able to evaluate a range of legal and public policy matters, including those which present as technically complex. My legal background is invaluable, as it provides me with a broad skill set, including the ability to efficiently spot issues associated with the development, interpretation and enforcement of Township ordinances, as well as any other legal challenges that might arise. This amounts to greater procedural efficiency and potential cost-savings to taxpayers. As a parent of younger children, I also bring compassion and receptivity to the wants and needs of families who live in Solebury Township, including the thoughtful development of a multi-use green space on the site of the former flea market along Route 202, as well as improved public walkways throughout the Township.
