Fundraiser Launched For New Hope Firefighter Who Died Of Cancer

Dave Wiley was history buff who loved motorcycles, spending time with his wife and serving his community.

An online fundraiser has been launched in support of a New Hope volunteer fire fighter who recently died from cancer.

Dave Wiley died March 30 "but not without a fight," according to the GoFundMe page launched in support of his family, which includes wife Lori, stepchildren Alex and Katie, and parents Keith and Barbara.

Wiley grew up in Chalfont and graduated from Central Bucks West in 1975. He was a member of the New Hope Eagle Volunteer Fire Company.

"For eight years, he was a corpsman in the Navy and devoted his life to working in public service. His passion for helping others resonated through his work as a volunteer fire fighter, paramedic and emergency medical technician with the New Hope Eagle Volunteer Fire Company," the GoFundMe page said.

He is described as an avid Civil War history buff who loved motorcycles, spending time with his wife and serving his community.

"He will always be remembered as a hard worker, dedicated public servant, mentor and friend."

The fundraiser has a goal of $25,000 to pay for medical bills and funeral costs. "Any donation, no matter the amount is greatly appreciated," organizers said via GoFundMe.
