Highly-Respected Retired Police Officer Being Remembered In Solebury

Corporal Larry A. Grawe started his police career with Solebury Township Police on June 17, 1967, and retired on October 1, 2006.

SOLEBURY TOWNSHIP, PA —A highly respected and much-loved Solebury Township resident and retired police officer passed away on October 5, 2022. The announcement was made in a Facebook post by the Solebury Township Police Department.

Corporal Larry A. Grawe started his police career with Solebury Township Police on June 17, 1967, and retired on October 1, 2006. Cpl. Grawe spent just over 39 years serving and protecting the Solebury Township community. During that time he became a well-known fixture to the residents over those many years of dedicated service.

Cpl. Grawe performed many functions within the department, from traffic enforcement to criminal investigations. He had no issues dealing with the occasional snake, but if a spider were to crawl by Larry would beat feet. From arresting burglars to safely catching a loose lion cub he
always showed his true love for being a police officer.

During his later years with the department Larry was promoted to the supervisory position of Police Corporal, training new patrol officers and guided them purpose and fulfillment. Larry enjoyed every part of his career and passed along much of his police experience and knowledge to his son, Officer Larry Grawe Jr. with the Philadelphia Police Department.

"In this sorrowful time, we the members and officers of Solebury Township and the Solebury Township Police Department extend our heartfelt condolences to Becky (wife), Larry Jr. (son), Melissa (daughter), family and friends," wrote the police department on its Facebook page.

His viewing will be held Tuesday, Oct. 11 from 5 to 8 p.m. and Wednesday, Oct. 12 from 10 to 11 a.m. at Carversville Christian Church, 3736 Aquetong Road, Carversville. His funeral and burial will follow Wednesday morning's viewing.
