Lightning Strike Sparks Roof Fire In Solebury Township

Firefighters responded to the scene late Sunday night and quickly extinguished the fire on Upper York Road.

SOLEBURY TOWNSHIP, PA — Lightning struck a home, sparking a fire in the 6800 block of Upper York Road (Route 263) late Sunday night

Just after 11 p.m., Solebury Township Police along with New Hope Eagle Volunteer Fire Company were dispatched to a single family home for the report of a dwelling fire.

When police arrived, they found fire showing from the front of the house near the third floor and roof area.

Firefighters aggressively attacked the fire and extinguished some minor extension to the roof and soffit areas.

"We are happy to report that the residents and pets are safe and sound and there were no injuries to any emergency personnel," Solebury Police said.

Assisting at the scene were Central Bucks Emergency Medical Services, Midway Volunteer Fire Company, Point Pleasant Vol. Fire Co., Lingohocken Fire Company and Delaware Township Fire Company.
