New Hope 6th Grader Writing 1st Poetry Book

Using IndieGoGo, a popular crowdfunding website, Matilda Bray has already raised $2,500 with 10% going to Children's Literacy Initiative.

New Hope sixth grader and aspiring poet, Matilda Bray has been writing poetry for six years and during that time she has participated in numerous poetry readings, competitions and has been published in two poetry journals. She has also been fortunate to have two supportive poetry mentors that have helped her amass a good amount of work.

It has been a dream of Matilda's to publish her first book of poetry entitled, "Under the Moon as My Sun." So, she put together a crowdfunding effort on IndieGoGo on Monday June, 4th to raise funds to publish 500 books and to help the Children's Literacy Initiative of Philadelphia (CLI.) In just the first 24 hours she had already eclipsed her initial goal of $1500 so we added a stretch goal of $2500. She hit that goal on June 7th so now that she had more than enough to cover the costs of printing the first run of books she decided that any additional funds that come in now until the end of the campaign on July 4th with go directly to the CLI. This award winning charity is doing some amazing work for young readers and writers so please consider supporting Matilda's cause!

Matilda has some great rewards in store for her backers, including a perk for a signed original poem or limerick, a leather cover edition perk, and a perk for her to read poetry at a poetry group or school in the tri-state area.
