Longtime Lambertville Lunchonette Closing Its Doors

LAMBERTVILLE, NJ —Sneddon's Luncheonette, which has served generations of Lambertville residents, will be closing its doors permanently on Sunday.

In a Facebook posting, the Sneddon family wrote, "We will be closing our doors permanently on Sunday, June 11. We will miss the smiles and the laughs, and the customers who have become our friends. We can’t begin to thank you enough for supporting our business through floods, hurricanes, blizzards, power outages, and of course, a global pandemic.

"Our building at 47 Bridge Street has been sold and we’ve been given every indication that the new owners intend to open a breakfast/lunch restaurant in keeping with the building’s history," they wrote.

The luncheonette, which bills itself as "Lambertville's go-to place for breakfast" has served generations of Lambertville and New Hope residents who have brought their families to Sneddon's for affordable breakfasts and lunches for decades.

The news prompted a huge response on Facebook, with many expressing sadness over the news.

"Wow. Didn’t see this coming. Thank you to you and your family for the strong run for many years. Another iconic piece of the town I grew up in moving along. Best of luck for whatever is next," wrote one longtime patron.

"A great place to sit down and have meals with family and friends. Thank you for all the years! Wishing you all the best!!" wrote another customer.

"I'm crushed!" writes another. "Best wishes to all of you. You'll be missed. I always looked forward to heading past and having breakfast after I left the immediate area. Where will I go for that perfect breakfast now?"

Others mentioned their favorite dishes in their postings.

"It’s sad to see you closing, but a new door is opening. Thanks for always making my breakfast so special. Will definitely miss my omelette with cheese and corned beef filling and covered with chipped beef. Will miss Terry and Mary. Thanks and God blessings."

"This is devastating," wrote another. "I’ll greatly miss your generous slices of pork roll on my bagel breakfast sandwich."
