New Hope-Solebury To Dismiss Early For Partial Eclipse

NEW HOPE, PA — The New Hope-Solebury School District will dismiss school early on Monday, April 8 due to the partial eclipse.
In an email to parents, district administrators said they received updated information from the Pennsylvania Department of Education regarding the upcoming solar eclipse on Monday, April 8.
"The new guidance suggests the eclipse threatens students’ eye safety and can potentially create hazardous driving conditions. As a result, we will dismiss all students, K-12, in accordance with our early dismissal procedures."

The high school and middle school will dismiss at 11 a.m. while the Lower Elementary School and Upper Elementary School will dismiss at noon.
"Our educators will continue their efforts to use the eclipse as a learning opportunity for our students, highlighting its significance and the science behind it as we approach this historical event," district officials wrote in their email.

District administrators said that anyone who needs to change their child’s dismissal plans due to the early dismissal should contact the building offices as soon as possible.
