New Hope-Solebury School District Introduces Lions Community School

NEW HOPE, PA — The New Hope-Solebury School District will reintroduce adult learning opportunities for residents with the launch of the Lions Community School.

The pilot program will leverage the expertise of school district faculty members to offer educational experiences that support physical health and wellness, a greater understanding of technology, collaborative learning, and inclusive school environments.

The new program will introduce six new classes for the greater community designed to cater to a wide range of interests and skill sets.

Through the school, the district will offer engaging introductory courses in pickleball, yoga, Microsoft Excel, how to navigate an iPhone, an interactive book club, and a course in English language proficiency specifically tailored to families of students learning English as a second language.

The ESL course, entitled, "Building Bridges Through ESL," will provide English language instruction for families and also guide district parents and guardians, who lack English language skills, in navigating school resources and supporting their child’s education.

New Hope-Solebury formerly had a community school with a robust offering of educational opportunities, but unfortunately, the non-profit organization was disbanded due to the pandemic. However, the district has made efforts to revitalize and reimagine the program to empower community members to pursue their passions and develop new skills.

The classes offered will be taught by New Hope-Solebury staff members and hosted using district facilities.

Registration for the Lions Community School opens January 5. Classes have varying schedules running from late February through May.
