NEW HOPE BOROUGH, PA — New Hope Borough Council President Connie Gehring has announced changes to the borough's ad hoc parking garage committee.

In early 2021, New Hope received a formal commitment from the state for a $1.75 million grant to offset the cost of constructing a parking garage. In response, the borough formed an Ad hoc Garage Committee including council members Peter Meyer, Laurie McHugh and Gehring.

For the past two years, the committee has worked with a consultant to consider aspects of a broad design for a garage and to resolve a related legal matter critical to project feasibility. That matter finally was settled in New Hope’s favor.

To carry out the work, Gering has named council members Dan Dougherty, Louise Feder, and Ken Maisel to replace the previous committee.

"They will bring fresh perspectives and energy to the project. The change also will allow Peter, Laurie and myself to move on to other initiatives, including updating the Borough’s Comprehensive Plan," said Gering.
