New Hope Borough Council has named Matt Decker, a 16-year veteran employee, as the next Public Works Supervisor for the Borough. Decker started his new duties on Oct. 3, to ensure a smooth transition into the leadership role when current Public Works Director Tom Carroll’s retirement takes effect in mid-November.

Decker first came to the Borough in November 2006 and has been actively involved in every aspect of the many functions of the Public Works Department, making him exceptionally well-prepared to take the helm.

“I am looking forward to working with Matt Decker going forward,” said Borough Manager Peter Gray. “With Matt’s experience and knowledge of the Borough, I am certain Matt will do a fantastic job in the years to come.”

Like outgoing Director Carroll, Decker has established many relationships with New Hope residents and sees the work of maintaining the Borough’s streets, sidewalks and properties as more of a community endeavor than a work-a-day job.

“I want to thank the Council, residents and business owners of New Hope for this opportunity,” said Decker. “Watching this town’s growth and improvements over the past 15 years, while maintaining its rich history, gives me a sense of pride to say I’m a part of it. I am honored to be appointed as Public Works Director and will continue to assist in the success of New Hope any way I can.”
