Radio City to Music Mtn-Tyler Hentz in Charlie Brown Christmas

Doylestown teen Tyler Hentz stars in A Charlie Brown Christmas after appearing in Radio City Christmas Spectacular

16-year-old Doylestown native Tyler Hentz is no stranger to the stage – he made his debut alongside his mom, Anna Hentz, in the ensemble of Evita at the Bucks County Playhouse at the ripe old age of 5.

It didn’t take Tyler long to follow in his mom’s footsteps; Hentz played the role of Tiny Tim in A Christmas Carol for a few years at the Bucks County Playhouse and more recently appeared onstage at the Walnut Street Theatre in The Music Man, Elf, and A Christmas Carol.

Last holiday season, Tyler had the opportunity to star in the Radio City Christmas Spectacular, playing over 60 performances to crowds of 6,000 at each show. His character was that of a teenage boy skeptical of the spirit of Christmas who learns to eventually embrace the joy of the season and believe in the magic.

Tyler is looking forward to spending Christmas at home this year, making his debut at the brand-new Music Mountain Theatre as Charlie Brown in A Charlie Brown Christmas. He has previously appeared at the Washington Crossing Open Air Theatre (former home of the company at Music Mountain Theatre) as Aladdin in Aladdin, Jr., Artful Dodger in Oliver, and Young Josh Baskin in Big.

When asked what he hoped children and families learn from Charlie Brown and the Peanuts gang, wise beyond his years Tyler shared “Charlie Brown still conveys his message of teaching the true meaning of Christmas to children and adults of all ages. Sometimes the truest concepts are forgotten by most millennials and are bypassed to make way for commercialism. This holiday season, the message of believing in the magic of Christmas is something that Charlie Brown and his friends can always teach us again and again this holiday season.”
