River Town Chefs To Compete In Weekend Soup Cook-Off

The public is invited to vote for their favorites while benefiting a local food pantry.

NEW HOPE, PA — Get ready for the ultimate soup showdown! Known for their culinary skills, the River Town chefs of New Hope and Lambertville will battle for the People's Choice award this weekend.

The River Town Soup Cook-Off returns on Saturday, Feb. 24 from 12:30 to 4 p.m. as local chefs bring their best winter soup to Havana’s where ticket holders will sample and judge the winners at the tastiest fundraising event of the year.

This year's participating restaurants include:

  • Logan Inn: Chef Jef Marino will serve an Italian White Bean Soup with spicy Italian sausage, white beans, Roma tomato, and Tuscan kale.
  • Havana Chef: Miguelangel Quiroz will feature lobster bisque, a luscious creamy soup made with love.
  • Lambertville House: Chef Carlos will serve tomato bisque soup, a savory tomato bisque made with cream and sundried tomatoes.
  • Under The Moon: Chef Jimmy Maugeri offers UTM Clam Chowder featuring a unique and flavorful twist on traditional clam chowder. Made with saffron and fresh shucked clams for a subtle earthy flavor, luxurious aromatics and distinctive golden hue
  • OldeStone Steak House: Chef Ed Jorden will whip up Pear and Parsnip soup. The soup blends a purée of pear and parsnip together with aromatics. Garnished with thyme leaves and nutmeg

In addition to tasting some delicious soup on a cold winter's day, proceeds and a canned goods collection will benefit Fisherman’s Mark Food Pantry

Attendees are asked to bring their appetites and a canned or boxed food item to donate to the local food pantry. And most of all, they should come prepared for a savory culinary experience.

Tickets are available online for $20 or $30 at the door. Admission includes all the soup you can taste, bakery bread, crackers, and water. Adult and non-adult beverages, desserts, coffee, and tea will be available for purchase.
