Sheep And Fiber Festival This Weekend At Hunterdon 4-H Fairgrounds

New additions this year include the first-ever American Classic Valais Blacknose National Show.

LAMBERTVILLE, NJ —The Garden State Sheep Breeders, a nonprofit, educational group promoting sheep and wool products in New Jersey, presents its 28th Annual New Jersey Sheep and Fiber Festival on Saturday and Sunday, Sept. 9 and 10 at the Hunterdon County 4-H Fairgrounds.

The two-day event will feature vendors, sheep shows, a fleece show and sale, breed exhibits, sheep shearing demonstrations, a fleece-to-scarf competition, educational sessions, and lots more.

Another new addition is the Zeilinger Wool Company Fiber Mill, which will be located inside the Grange Building. They can process sheep wool, Angora Goat fiber (mohair), llama, Alpaca, Dog hair, Buffalo and other exotic fibers into items such as roving, batting, combed top, yarn, bedding and finished products such as socks, gloves and hats. The festival will be open to the public from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday and 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Sunday. The cost is $10 per person or $15 per carload or $20 for a two-day car pass.
