New Hope Borough Mayor Declares Snow Emergency

Borough emergency management leaders remind residents to comply with parking restrictions and to avoid travel.

NEW HOPE, PA — The Mayor of New Hope has declared a Snow Emergency due to a severe winter storm impacting the area.

The emergency continues through Wednesday, Feb. 25, at 5 p.m. During the emergency, residents are reminded to:

  • Avoid unnecessary travel
  • Comply with posted snow emergency parking restrictions
  • Remove vehicles from designated snow emergency routes
  • Allow public works and emergency responders to operate safely and efficiently.
  • Vehicles parked in violation of snow emergency regulations may be ticketed and/or towed.
  • Snow and ice must be removed from sidewalks and pedestrian walkways within 24 hours after the end of the storm.

Please monitor Borough communications for updates and use caution if travel is necessary. The public's cooperation is essential to keeping the community safe.

The National Weather Service has issued a Blizzard Warning for the region through 6 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 23, for up to 12 inches of snow with wind gusts as high as 45 mph. Snowfall rates could exceed two inches per hour. Locally higher snowfall amounts and significant drifting of snow is possible.

"Travel could be very difficult to impossible," warn forecasters. "Areas of blowing snow could significantly reduce visibility. The hazardous conditions will impact the Monday morning and evening commutes. Gusty winds could also bring down tree branches and result in isolated power outages.
